About the coffee

Candy-like and fruit-forward with notes of canned pineapple, ripe blackberries and milk chocolate. Floral and a little boozy. Juicy, beautiful acidity.

Named after the Bamisa River, which sustains the fertile valleys of southern Colombia, Rio Bamisa reflects its origin and the synergy between natural conditions and agricultural expertise. Sourced from Acevedo, a distinguished region in the Huila department, this lot benefits from high elevations, nutrient-rich volcanic soils, and stable microclimates -elements that together form an optimal environment for producing high-quality, complex coffees.

At the heart of Rio Bamisa is Caturrón, a rare and remarkable Colombian cultivar. Genetically related to Variedad Colombia but distinguished by its oblong beans and resilience to leaf rust, Caturrón is a hybrid born of Híbrido de Timor and Bourbon or Caturra. Its tropical fruit-forward profile, shaped by the bean’s natural sugars, starts in the cherry and persists beautifully in the cup.

This lot is naturally processed, beginning with a careful water-based selection to eliminate defects. After a short fermentation of 2–3 hours, the cherries are slowly dried to a precise moisture level of 10–11%, enhancing the coffee’s complexity and vibrant character.

In the cup, Rio Bamisa offers a vivid expression of its origin—lively tropical aromas, a smooth body, and bright, juicy notes that pay homage to the land and the people who cultivate it.
