About the coffee

This coffee comes from the Rumudamo washing station in Arbegona village in Sidama. At an altitude of 2,200 m above sea level. Around 600 local farms deliver their cherries. The main variety supplied is Heirloom 74112.

Rumudamo is managed by Asefa Dukamo Korma of Daye Bensa, who are also the exporters for this and many of our other lots from Sidama. This location gained global recognition after placing second and third at the inaugural Ethiopian Cup of Excellence in 2020. The coffee here is grown at some of the highest altitudes in the world, producing some of our most popular flavor profiles.

The cherries are harvested at the time of peak ripeness. Once sorted, they are peeled and the kernels are dipped in water and fermented for 48-72 hours. The kernels are then thoroughly rinsed and transferred to drying tables, where they are dried on raised beds for 8-12 days.

About the roastery

ilse was founded in 2019 with the aim of showcasing the best coffees in the world and opening people's eyes to what coffee can be. Quality coffee is what got us into specialty coffee in the first place, but the people we've met along the way are what keep us here and, more importantly, inspire and motivate us to grow.
