About the coffee

Martha Rodriguez Ospina is the eldest of seven siblings in the Rodriguez Ospina family, which consists of three women and four men. She is a single mother and the head of the family and represents the third generation of coffee farmers. The coffee tradition began 80 years ago when her grandfather started growing coffee in the region. The land passed to Martha's parents, who then passed it down to their seven children.

Due to the small size of the farm, Martha decided to switch from traditional coffee varieties to the high-quality Geisha variety in order to generate more income and profitability. She learned to grow and process Geisha coffee to compete in the specialty market. In 2021, with the help of her brothers, she introduced natural processing and developed an anaerobic fermentation protocol to improve the complexity of the coffee.

Martha is a respected figure in her community who is known for her spirit of solidarity. She uses a portion of her coffee sales to help those in need, supports nursing homes, helps people with medical expenses and works with local schools.
