About the coffee
About the coffee
This fully washed Peaberry comes from the Kakindu Estate in Kiambu, one of six farms owned by Sasini, a Kenyan company with majority local ownership. Kakindu represents a modern chapter in Kenyan coffee – locally led, community-focused, and committed to equitable working conditions.
Grown in the highlands of Kiambu at elevations up to 2,000 masl, the cherries ripen slowly in cool night air, developing layered sweetness and vibrant acidity.
The coffee is processed using the traditional Kenyan washed method: hand-sorted, depulped, fermented for 36–48 hours, washed through clean channels to separate by density, and sun-dried for up to three weeks on raised beds. Each step reflects the care and experience of the people behind it.
A Peaberry is a natural occurrence in which only one bean develops inside the coffee cherry instead of two. This single, rounded bean is denser and often showcases a more concentrated flavor profile.
