About the coffee
About the coffee
This washed Grade 1 microlot comes from the Worka Wuri washing station in Gedeb, southern Ethiopia. Around 650 farmers process their coffee cherries here, grown at elevations of up to 2,100 meters above sea level.
The Gedeb region, near Yirgacheffe, is known for its vibrant coffee community and deep-rooted knowledge in cultivating and processing Arabica. The quality of these coffees arises not only from altitude and soil, but from the care, experience, and collaboration of the people who produce them.
The coffee is processed using the Ethiopian washed method: ripe cherries are carefully sorted, depulped, and fermented for 36–48 hours. The beans are then thoroughly washed, sorted by density, and sun-dried for 12–15 days on raised drying beds. During drying, they are regularly turned and protected from excess heat or moisture. Final sorting and hand selection take place in Addis Ababa before export.
The result is a precisely processed coffee with bright, lively acidity and layered sweetness, a true reflection of the skill and patience of the Worka Wuri community.
